There are plenty of ways to get to and from Keflavik Airport. I\u2019ll go through all the options. It\u2019s located 50 km from Reykjavik, practically in the middle of nowhere. This is definitely where you\u2019re landing.<\/li>\n<li>Reykjavik (RKV) \u2013 a small domestic airport, just 2 km from the city center. Flights from here go around Iceland (for example, to Akureyri), and occasionally there are flights to Greenland and the Faroe Islands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Just to be safe, check your ticket and see which letters are listed \u2013 KEF or RKV. In Reykjavik, there\u2019s a similar service called Hopp, with an app available on Google Play and the App Store. There aren\u2019t many cars in the city center; we waited twenty minutes, and on the way the driver said \u2013 we should have called, we would have arrived faster. Okay, I can find the number, but how do you even pronounce these street names? You\u2019d have to ask in the nearby shops. Bottom line, there\u2019s definitely no Hopp in Keflavik. And even less so in the rest of Iceland. By the way, Hopp also offers scooters, which are everywhere in Reykjavik.<\/p>\n<p>So it\u2019s just the regular taxis \u2013 official cabs waiting at the airport. Payment is by meter (taxi-meter). The ride costs roughly 150\u2013200 euros (here and below, prices are in euros, as it\u2019s a more familiar currency). They accept cards, but it\u2019s better to check in advance. If there\u2019s no terminal, it\u2019s cash only \u2013 Icelandic krona.<\/p>\n<h2>Transfer<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s easier, and sometimes cheaper, to book a transfer in advance. The best options I found:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/getyourguide.tpx.lu\/xOHedUrL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">For 1\u20134 people in a regular car: up to 150\u20ac<\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/getyourguide.tpx.lu\/FiFAYam1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minivan for 5\u20138 people: 150\u2013200\u20ac<\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you\u2019re not renting a car, arrive in the morning, and check-in is in the afternoon, you can head to the Blue Lagoon. It\u2019s in that part of Iceland. A taxi there would cost <a href=\"https:\/\/getyourguide.tpx.lu\/DczXh9T1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">around 100\u20ac<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you are going to cruise terminal (lucky!) private transfer will cost <a href=\"https:\/\/getyourguide.tpx.lu\/x1G1Kixb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">about 150\u20ac<\/a> for car.<\/p>\n<p>Prices depend on the season, moon phases, and yes, inflation is still a thing. I don\u2019t plan to constantly update prices, so check them yourself for your dates. Nine trips a day from 6:30 to 23:00. The journey takes about 70 minutes, with stops at several towns along the way. Fare is 15\u20ac, payable to the driver by card or in krona cash.<\/p>\n<p>This bus doesn\u2019t stop right at the terminal. You need to exit the airport building, cross the P1 parking lot, and find the stop just beyond it. On the plus side, it goes through the entire center of Reykjavik.<\/p>\n<p>Schedule and route <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straeto.is\/en\/route-planner\/timetables\/southern-peninsula\/route-55\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">are here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Macy only knew about this option, which is why she walked.<\/p>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- \/module text -->        <\/div>\n                        <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n                        <div  data-lazy=\"1\" class=\"module_row themify_builder_row tb_epak754 tf_w\">\n                        <div class=\"row_inner col_align_top tb_col_count_1 tf_box tf_rel\">\n                        <div  data-lazy=\"1\" class=\"module_column tb-column col-full tb_gbls754 first\">\n                    <!-- module text -->\n<div  class=\"module module-text tb_jjdf754   \" data-lazy=\"1\">\n        <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n        <h2>Express Bus<\/h2>\n<p>The most popular way to get to or from the airport.<\/p>\n<p>There are several operators: Flybus, Airport Direct, Gray Line. There\u2019s no real difference between them. Don\u2019t mind the name Airport Direct \u2013 the owners either have no imagination (or maybe too much).<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s best to buy tickets in advance. All bus operators are on <a href=\"https:\/\/viator.tp.st\/aMl0a7nI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Viator<\/a>, so you can compare prices right away \u2013 they\u2019re the same: around 26\u20ac per person. In summer, buses run from 03:00 to 00:00. Travel time is 50 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Buses arrive at the Reykjavik bus terminal, which is not really the city center.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why bus operators offer an extra pick-up\/drop-off service near your hotel. Then the total cost (airport\u2013city\u2013hotel) is 35\u20ac per person. For a group of four, it\u2019s already more cost-effective to book a private transfer.<\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s a catch with pick-up\/drop-off\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Buses are big, there are lots of pedestrian zones in the center, and not all hotels are accessible. If you\u2019re heading to the airport, you need to arrive at one of the designated stops half an hour before the scheduled time. A mini-bus picks up passengers there and takes them to the bus terminal. Similarly, when arriving in Iceland \u2013 first, you\u2019re taken to the bus terminal, and then mini-buses distribute passengers around the city. You\u2019ll get a map showing the nearest stop or which hotels are in the direct pick-up\/drop-off zone after booking.<\/p>\n<p>In Reykjavik, we stayed at <a href=\"https:\/\/booking.stay22.com\/privateperson\/h1kr-RtWeU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hotel Fron<\/a>. I recommend it \u2013 a good hotel in the center, on a pedestrian street, with all bars and shops nearby. A day before departure we received an email: Pickup Fron Hotel \u2013 Bus Stop 6 Safnah\u00fasi\u00f0 (hope I didn\u2019t summon a demon with these hieroglyphs) Culture Center. Bus Stop 6 is easy to find on Google Maps. Ten minutes\u2019 walk from the hotel. There are many such special \u201cairport\u201d bus stops.<\/p>\n<p>And most importantly: don\u2019t try to walk from KEF to Reykjavik. It\u2019s not worth it.<\/p>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- \/module text -->        <\/div>\n                        <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n                        <div  data-lazy=\"1\"
